Lurssen Mastering Console updates to version 1.1

June 8, 2017 Comments off

IK Multimedia. Musicians First.June 8, 2017  – IK Multimedia has just released an important update for Lurssen Mastering Console for Mac®/PC and for iPhone®/iPad® bringing even more processing power for both desktop and mobile users.

Lurssen Mastering Console for Mac/PC and iPhone/iPad
Lurssen Mastering Console, the award-winning professional mastering software, born from the collaboration of the IK Multimedia development team with multiple Grammy® winning engineers Gavin Lurssen and Reuben Cohen is now even more powerful and flexible making it ideal for multi-track and surround mixing applications. “We’re pleased to offer new features such as improved dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio along with multi-mono operation for mono, stereo and surround use for the pro users who have asked for it,” said Gavin Lurssen, Chief Mastering Engineer.

Mastering Jazz and Classical music is a very delicate process where every tiny adjustment can make or ruin the final master.

Multi-Mono operation – From mastering to mixing and surround

The Lurssen Mastering Console plugin can be inserted in mono, stereo, multi-channel tracks and busses in any compatible DAW for ultimate flexibility as both a mastering and mixing tool. The new mono operation not only allows users to use the plugin on mono tracks (such as vocals, bass, guitars etc.) in regular mixing sessions, or stereo busses for stem mixing or mastering duties, but it can also be used on 5.1 surround, or even larger surround projects, depending on the DAW. The parameters, presets and styles will remain consistent across all instances on a multichannel bus when the settings are linked. This will allow greater precision and consistency in surround operation for the highest quality results.

More Styles: Jazz and Classical
Mastering Jazz and Classical music is a very delicate process where every tiny adjustment can make or ruin the final master. Thanks to the experience of the Lurssen Mastering team, spanning over 30 years in all kinds of music genres, Gavin Lurssen and Reuben Cohen have developed two new “Styles” for use within these specific contexts. Each Style has been meticulously crafted to reflect Gavin Lurssen’s motto: “You want it sound like you were never there,” meaning the sound will be enhanced and optimized but without altering the original artist’s intent.

Extended De-esser threshold control range
In order to provide users with an extended control over higher frequencies in any given audio material (whether it is a vocal track or an entire mix,) the De-esser “Threshold” control range has been extended by 3 decibels. This applies to all versions of the product.

Noiseless analog character
The new update improves the sound quality even further by retaining all the subtle nuances of the original analog mastering chain while simultaneously removing the intrinsic noise of the hardware machines for a superior, crystal clear sound.

Pricing and availability
The update is available for free to current registered users.

Lurssen Mastering Console for Mac/PC is available from the IK Multimedia website and select retailers worldwide for $/€159.99. Users can download and try Lurssen Mastering Console’s full features for free for a period of 10 days.

IK Multimedia announces Syntronik™ – The legendary synth powerhouse for Mac/PC

May 25, 2017 Comments off

May 25, 2017 – IK Multimedia is proud to introduce Syntronik, the new cutting-edge virtual synthesizer for Mac/PC, which will be available in July 2017 and is now open for pre-order. Syntronik raises the bar in virtual instrument technology, sound quality and flexibility thanks to a brand new combination of the most advanced sampling techniques with a new hybrid sample and modeling synthesis engine, an arsenal of high-quality modeled effects and innovative instrument features that provide players and producers with the ultimate and best-sounding collection of vintage synthesizers to date.

Syntronik

A breakthrough in the world of virtual synthesizers
Syntronik includes 17 amazing instruments, available as a collection or separately, with over 2,000 preset sounds covering a wide selection from 38 of the most iconic to ultra-rare and painstakingly multi-sampled vintage synthesizers. Syntronik‘s synthesis engine goes well beyond traditional sampling thanks to a brand new analog modeled filter section built with the highest expertise from IK, the pioneer in virtual circuit modeling. This is coupled with the new exclusive DRIFT™ technology to accurately reproduce the behavior of oscillators from real hardware synths. All of this combined with an effects section that is unrivaled in the world of virtual instruments along with advanced features like 4-part layers, splits and arpeggiators make Syntronik the ultimate source of inspiration with the widest palette of synthesizer sounds ranging from exact reproductions of the originals to sounds never heard before that will stand out from the crowd in productions covering any genre and style.

Capturing the synthesizer DNA of a collector’s dream
IK Multimedia has spared no effort in crafting an instrument that provides the highest standard of sound quality. Only the best synthesizer models have been sourced from private collections and carefully selected prior to being meticulously multi-sampled using the most advanced techniques developed by the IK team to ensure that the authentic character of the originals is captured and reproduced down to the tiniest nuance. 70,000 individual samples and 50 GB of extreme-quality sounds later, Syntronik is ready to set a new standard in the world of virtual instruments.

The 38 instruments included in Syntronik are: Modular Moog, Minimoog Model D, Moog Voyager, Moog Taurus I, Moog Taurus II, Moog Taurus 3, Polymoog, Moog Opus 3, Moog Rogue, Realistic Concertmate MG-1, Multimoog, Micromoog, Moog Prodigy, Sequential Circuits Prophet-5, Sequential Circuits Prophet-10, ARP 2600, Oberheim SEM, Oberheim OB-X, Oberheim OB-Xa, Yamaha CS-80, Yamaha GX-1, Yamaha CS-01II, Yamaha SY99, Roland Juno-60, Roland Jupiter-8, Roland Jupiter-6, Roland Jupiter-4, Roland JX-10, Roland JX-8P, Roland JX-3P, Roland TB-303 Bassline, Alesis Andromeda, PPG Wave 2.3, ARP String Ensemble, Elka Rhapsody 490, Hohner String Performer, Roland RS-505 Paraphonic, Roland RS-09 Organ/Strings.

Syntronik

Hybrid Synthesis Architecture
IK Multimedia developed a new synthesis engine for Syntronik that models 4 of the best sounding analog filters of all time: Moog transistor ladder, (found in the Minimoog and Modular Moog), Roland’s IR3109 chip (found in the Jupiter-8 and Juno-60), the famous Curtis CEM3320 chip (found in the Prophet-5, Oberheim OB-Xa and Memorymoog) and the Oberheim SEM state variable filter. This hybrid architecture allows for pristine reproduction of the most critical section of every synthesizer. Plus, every filter is selectable within each included synthesizer, enabling users to create their own combinations by mixing or matching at will – like using a Moog filter with Oberheim oscillators – to produce sounds beyond imagination. Syntronik also provides powerful digital filters like Formant and Phase filters that can take the analog source oscillators into other dimensions for modern timbral exploration.

New DRIFT™ Technology
When it comes to accurately reproducing the real sound of vintage synthesizers, sampling their oscillators is the only way to ensure truly authentic results. IK developers have worked tirelessly to capture multiple round robins of single oscillators as well as oscillator combinations (including sync and FM sweeps). Syntronik also includes a new DRIFT algorithm that breathes more life into the sampled oscillators themselves. Typically sample-based synthesizers have the limitation of having always the same exact sample attack, something that does not happen in their true hardware counterparts. IK’s DRIFT technology varies the phase, color and pitch of the sampled oscillators to keep them moving just like the real analog oscillators do. Much more than simple detuning or even multiple-source modulation, DRIFT emulates the way real analog circuits behave over time. The result is the organic, living sound of analog that is the start of any classic synthesis chain.

4-part layering and arpeggiators
Syntronik‘s streamlined interface allows for quick layering and combining of up to 4 different synthesizer parts, quick mapping and playing sounds simultaneously as well as creating advanced splits for maximum flexibility and performance. In addition to this, each synthesizer part features a powerful note and chord arpeggiator with its own assignable range and settings as well as the ability to store all information for instant recall, enabling users to build complex rhythmic textures and sequences in a snap.

An arsenal of effects
Syntronik comes with 38 high-quality effects derived from IK’s world-class T-RackSmix and mastering suite and AmpliTube guitar workstation plus new effects like the new Ensemble Chorus and vintage analog Channel Strip. 5 effects can be simultaneously inserted on every instrument via an attractive “lunchbox-style” interface that allows for immediate visualization and editing of every parameter from a single screen.

SampleTank-ready
Syntronik‘s sounds can be opened seamlessly in SampleTank 3 allowing them to be used together with the ever-growing number of acoustic and electronic instruments included in the industry-standard sound and groove workstation, to build complete soundtracks for any style of music.

Pricing and availability
Syntronik is expected to ship in July 2017, and will be priced at $/€299.99* with a crossgrade version available for $/€199.99 (eligible to any registered IK users with a purchase of $/€99.99 or greater).
The 17 instruments comprising Syntronik will also be available separately for $/€49.99 each upon release.

IK Multimedia releases MODO BASS – the breakthrough physically modeled electric bass virtual instrument for Mac/PC

November 30, 2016 Comments off

IK Multimedia. Musicians First.November 30, 2016 IK Multimedia, the pioneer in analog effects modeling, is pleased to announce the release of MODO BASS®, the new breakthrough physical modeling technology that brings a completely new level of realism and playability to the world of virtual bass instruments. MODO BASS is a customizable physically modeled virtual bass instrument that recreates the sound of the electric bass and how it’s played in real time – from all of the physical instrument components, the human technique of how the instrument is played, to the entire sound signal chain with effects and amplifiers.

IK Multimedia releases MODO BASS
Unlike traditional sample-based virtual instruments, MODO BASS utilizes modal synthesis technology and an ultra-optimized sound engine to model each string as a nonlinear resonator – the string’s acoustic behavior is determined by its physical parameters as well as by the interaction of the string with fretboard, body and pick-ups of the instrument. The action of the player is then modeled as a nonlinear physical interaction with specific areas on the string surface. Then using IK’s cutting edge analog modeling expertise, the amp and effects rig of the electric bass is added to the sound chain. This gives MODO BASS the ability to create hyper-realistic sound in real time.Every electric bass sound imaginable
MODO BASS contains a collection of 12 physically modeled iconic electric basses that span the history of bass sound in recorded music – more bass models than available in most other virtual instruments. Models include “60s P-Bass” based on an Alder body 60s era Fender Precision Bass®, “70’s P-Bass” based on an Ash body Fender Precision Bass®, “70’s J-Bass” based on an Alder body Fender Jazz Bass®; “Modern J-Bass” based on an Ash body Fender Jazz Bass®, “Devil Bass” based on Gibson® EB-0; “Bass Man 5” based on Music Man® StingRay 5-string; “Rick n’ Bass” based on Rickenbacker® 4003; “Studio Bass” based on Yamaha® RB5; “Violin Bass” based on a Hofner® Violin Bass, “Thunder Bass” based on a Gibson® Thunderbird, “Japan Bass” based on an Ibanez® Soundgear, and “Flame Bass” based on Warwick® Streamer.Every detail of each bass has been meticulously analyzed and modeled to capture their true sonic character; the shape and type, the wood used for the body and neck construction, the hardware components, the original onboard electronics and controls – every aspect and detail has been recreated to provide the highest degree of authenticity of the original instrument. But the sounds available with MODO BASS extend far beyond the 12 modeled basses – with the available customization features, users can craft virtually every electric bass sound imaginable. MODO BASS is able to produce an unmatched and unlimited palette of bass sounds because everything can be customized.

Pluck, Slap or Pick – modeled playing styles
Once the bass has been selected, players can choose from 3 playing styles – pluck, slap or pick – and control parameters of each style and how they influence the sound. Adjustments can be made to the force applied to the strings, the position of the hand, the direction of the stroke, the fingers used to play the instrument and how the strings are approached, the impact of the thumb slap and the finger pull on the string and even the thickness of the pick and style of its attack. Every aspect of playing style has been modeled as a non-linear interaction with the strings to provide a dynamic, ever-changing sound output.

String Customization
IK painstakingly studied and recreated all of the factors that affect string tone and performance. Players can choose the number of strings on the bass, the construction type and material of the strings (round or flat wound), the gauge and age, plus the physical action height of above the fretboard. Each of these options contributes its own character to the output of the bass and introduces realism never before heard in a virtual instrument.

Custom pickup configuration
There are 20 iconic bass pickups from which to choose that can be freely interchanged and added to the instrument – up to 2 pickups per bass. Users can change the type of pickups used, neck or bridge single coil or humbuckers, and their physical location under the strings can be moved freely for unlimited playing and tonal variations – a feature virtually impossible in the physical world. MODO BASS also gives players the ability to mix in the sound of an under-bridge piezo pickup for added resonance and top end. Switching from Passive to Active electronics option also enables a 3-band parametric EQ to fine-tune the pickup output tone.

Customize FX and Amp choices
With MODO BASS, players have full control over the post-instrument signal path as well and get 7 bass stomp boxes and two classic bass amplifiers derived from IK’s AmpliTube flagship software. Stomp box effects include an Octaver, Distortion, Chorus, Compressor, Delay, Envelope Filter or Graphic EQ. Each stomp box gives players full control over the effect applied to the signal, parameter adjustment and overall output volume into the next effect. Also available is a classic all-tube amplifier and 1×15 cab, or a solid-state model with a 4×10 cab.

Expressive control in real time
MODO BASS provides MIDI control of critical parameters that can be automated in real time. With the MIDI Control section, players control and adjust the application of vibrato, the playing style, the application of Mute technique and the amount of slide technique applied while playing.  The frequency of the vibrato, the amount of the bend, plus the amount of slide and detach noise while playing can all be controlled in real time on the fly.

Keyswitching in MODO BASS allows players to create amazingly real techniques like slides and percussive ghost notes. Users can switch on the fly between chord mode and note mode, the type of stroke used for playing, the fingers used and the method of playing, which provides the ability to completely customize the sound in real time.

Pricing and availability
MODO BASS is available now from the IK Multimedia online store for a special introductory price of $/€149.99* until December 4, 2016. After that date, MODO BASS will be $/€299.99* and a crossgrade will be available for $/€199.99 ** to qualified users.

*All prices excluding taxes.
**Any previous purchase of an IK Multimedia product with a value of $/€99.99 or more qualifies for crossgrade pricing.
